FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

How TapRidge works, what we need from you, and what we will and won't promise.

Using TapRidge

Do my customers need an app?

No. Tapping uses the NFC reader built into most modern phones. Customers whose phones can't tap can scan the QR code with the built-in camera instead. Both open the same page in the phone's browser, and nobody signs up for anything.

Which phones can tap?

Recent iPhones (iPhone XS, XR and newer) read NFC tags without any app. Most Android phones can too, as long as NFC is turned on in settings. Phones that can't tap can scan the QR code instead: the built-in camera on nearly all modern smartphones reads QR codes, and very old phones may need a free QR reader app.

What happens when a customer taps?

On Android, the page usually opens right away. On iPhone, a small banner appears at the top of the screen; one tap on the banner opens the page. Either way, it takes a couple of seconds.

What is a TapRidge link?

Each piece is programmed with its own short TapRidge web address rather than your review page directly. That address forwards customers to the page you chose in a fraction of a second. If your page ever changes, the destination can be updated without replacing the display, card or sticker.

Where can a tap send customers?

Anywhere with a link. Most businesses use their Google review page. Facebook and Tripadvisor review pages, booking pages, Instagram, your website or a TapRidge Hub all work too.

Do displays need batteries, power or Wi‑Fi?

No. NFC chips are powered by the customer's phone during the tap, and the phone uses its own connection to open the page. There's nothing to charge or plug in.

Does it work on a metal counter?

Displays stand upright, so they work on most counters. Metal can interfere with NFC, so avoid sticking tap cards or stickers directly onto metal surfaces. The QR code works regardless.

Ordering & configuration

What do you need from me?

Your business name and address, a contact email and phone number, where taps should go (your review link if you have it), your logo if you'd like it used, and whether you want the kit shipped or installed locally. The order form walks you through it.

I don't know my review link. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Leave it blank and we'll find your public listing from your business name and address, then confirm the link with you before anything is made.

If you manage your Google Business Profile, you can also find it yourself: open your profile on Google Search or Maps, choose Ask for reviews (sometimes labeled Get more reviews), and copy the link.

Do you need my Google password or account access?

Never. Your review link is public, so we don't need to sign in to anything. If someone claiming to be TapRidge asks for a password, verification code or account access, don't share it and let us know.

When do I pay?

After you order, we confirm your links and send a proof of your design with the total and payment details. You pay once you approve it. Nothing is charged when you submit the order form.

Is there a monthly fee?

No subscription is required. Packages, add-ons and upgrades are one-time purchases.

Can I use my own logo and colors?

Yes. Custom branding puts your logo, colors and wording on every piece for $39 on any order, and it's included with Pro. Without it, pieces use our standard design with your business name.

Can I order only add-ons, without a package?

Yes. Choose “Add-ons only” when you order. First orders without a package include a one-time $20 build-your-own configuration fee, which covers verifying your links, programming and testing. Existing customers don't pay it when they reorder.

What if my review link changes?

Contact us. Every piece uses its own TapRidge link rather than your review address, so a new destination usually doesn't mean new hardware. The same goes for Hub pages.

Reviews & policies

Will TapRidge get me more reviews or a higher rating?

We can't promise that, and nobody honestly can. TapRidge makes leaving a review much easier for customers who want to. How many do, and what they write, is up to them.

Is asking for reviews this way allowed?

Google allows businesses to ask customers for reviews. What it prohibits is selectively asking only happy customers (review gating) and offering incentives in exchange for reviews. TapRidge does neither: every tap goes to the same public page, and our displays never offer rewards.

Policies differ by platform. Yelp, for example, asks businesses not to solicit reviews at all, so we don't recommend pointing a display at Yelp. Check each platform's current guidelines before you choose where taps should go.

Can I send unhappy customers to a private feedback form first?

No. That's review gating, which Google's policies prohibit. Every TapRidge review display points to your public review page so every customer is treated the same.

Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?

We don't design displays that do, and we'd advise against it. Incentivized reviews break the rules of Google and most review platforms.

Shipping & installation

How long does it take?

It depends on your package and whether you've chosen custom branding. We'll give you a delivery or installation date along with your proof, before you pay.

How much is shipping?

Shipping depends on your address and order size. It's included on your proof, so you'll see the full total before you pay.

What's the difference between shipping and local installation?

Shipped kits arrive programmed and tested, ready to place. Local installation means we bring your kit and install it with you, where available. It's $39 on any order or reorder. A new Pro order includes it for the original installation; reorders pay it, including from Pro customers. We'll confirm availability for your address when you order.

Where should I put everything?
  • Review display: at checkout, facing customers, within easy reach.
  • Tap cards: with staff, at tables or chairs, or in the receipt tray.
  • Window sticker: inside the front door or window, facing out, at eye level.
  • Hub: where people wait: the waiting area, host stand or fitting room.
Something arrived damaged or isn't working. What now?

Contact us with your order reference and a photo if you can. We'll sort it out with you.

Reorders & multi-location

How do I reorder?

Use the reorder form. Tell us your business name and email, what you need, and whether anything should change. We'll match your existing design and links, or you can choose a redesign or rebrand for $39. Reorders never include the build-your-own configuration fee.

I lost a tap card. Can I replace just one?

Yes. Reorder a single card and choose “Replace lost or damaged” so we match it to your existing design and links.

We have several locations. Can each have its own link?

Yes. Every location's pieces point to that location's own review page. Send a multi-location inquiry and we'll plan it with you.
